Based in Philadelphia, Andropogon Associates, Ltd. was formed in 1975 to pursue an ecological perspective to problem-solving in environmental planning and landscape architecture. The concept of sustainability is at the core of their practice as designers and planners, and their holistic approach considers equally the land and its stewards. The firm's areas of expertise include urban revitalization, brownfield redevelopment, and the adaptive re-use and rehabilitation of historical and cultural sites. They have pioneered the restoration and management of natural habitats, from forests to wetlands, in nearly pristine areas as well as the most disturbed urban and rural environments. Their projects encompass regional planning of new communities, greenways, and trail systems; planning and design for academic campuses, business centers, and arboreta; and the intimate design of urban pocket parks and gardens. Some of their recent works include the master plan and site design for Valley Forge, Pennsylvania National Historical Park; the master plan for Fallingwater in Bear Run, Pennsylvania; and the site design for the Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies at Oberlin College in Ohio.
